I first met Shakil roughly seven years ago. As the newly appointed CEO and Executive Director of one of the largest NGO volunteer alliances in the U.S., I was looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to look into the books and help align what had been mostly ad hoc systems to run what should be an effective 501 c(3) organization. My first impression of Shakil was that he was very reserved whose skill sets were quietly on display. We went forward. Not only was my impression of Shakil correct, but he proved to be so effective, honest and capable that due to his skills, work ethic and vision the organization prospered beyond expectations. He became a personal, life-long friend, one whose integrity remains a living legacy for me.
