#20 scholarship For High School
Each year, Uproot plans to award $500 to four deserving senior students, based on a merited essay. This project aims to encourage students to avail themselves for higher education.
For the year 2019, only two scholarships are planned, which will be distributed by December 31, 2019.
Uproot has selected Army Public School, APS, of Peshawar Pakistan to be our first recipient in receiving the first two scholarships.
On 16 December 2014, six terrorist gunmen entered the school and opened fire indiscriminately on staff and children, killing 149 people including 132 schoolchildren, ranging between eight and eighteen years of age making it the world's fourth deadliest school massacre. A rescue operation was launched by the Pakistan Army's Special Services Group (SSG) special forces, and all six terrorists were killed and 960 were rescued.
The school will conduct the essay contest among seniors, and the top two essays will receive $500 from Uproot Poverty. Winners will be uploaded on our website, along with their essay.
The essay topic:
Imagine you are about to change someone's life by taking away their misery and providing them with hope and strength. How would you bring a smile on their face, promote peace and support prosperity?
